Visioning Our Future…

In 1985 when Cross Creek was in development, the property was owned by the developers. They controlled the vision, the design and the amenities. Today, forty years later, all that is Cross Creek Golf and Country Club belongs to us – the owners, the members, the residents. Much has changed in forty years – we live longer, we work differently, retirement is more active and we have so many choices in how we spend our time.  Our built environment has to adapt to accommodate our future wants and needs. It is important that our community stays attractive to future generations ensuring that we continue to be a highly sought after place to live. Now is the time to explore what is possible for our next forty years!

Where are we in the planning process?

Square  One!!  We are at the very beginning.  There is a lot of work that goes into even a modest remodel and the more  complex the plan the more complex the preparation.

  • Fact finding – research has to be done to see what current regulations require vs what regulations might we be exempt from?  We have to explore what the environmental impacts would be of any changes.
  • Visioning and Prioritizing – like all renovation projects there will be a lot more on the list than we can reasonably accomplish.  The way we winnow down the list is with input from the entire community — there will be meetings, surveys, there will be opportunities for everyone to express an opinion, contribute an idea, and share concerns.
  • Refining the Plan and drafting the budget – once the plan is established and ‘right-sized’ we build a budget
  • Funding the Plan – nothing happens without a budget and a plan to fund the project.  Where does the money come from? From us, the same people that will use and benefit from the project.  There are several ways we can do this but the most common is through a special assessment over several years.
